Why choose polyurethane flooring?

Excellent abrasion resistance

Stands up to heavy wheeled traffic, dragging and impact.

UV-stable finish

Won’t yellow in sunlight, so colours stay true near doors and glazing.

Flexible & crack-bridging

Moves slightly with the substrate rather than cracking.

Thermal-shock resistant

Copes with hot wash-downs, spills and steam cleaning.

Chemical resistant

Resists many food acids, oils, fats and cleaning chemicals.

Seamless & easy to clean

Non-porous surface with no joints for bacteria to build up in.

Where polyurethane works best

Manufacturing plants

Withstands heavy machinery, chemical spills and impact.

Food & beverage

Hygienic, non-porous surfaces resistant to acids and oils.

Automotive workshops

Resists oil, grease and heat from equipment.

Pharmaceutical labs

Seamless, dust-free floors for controlled environments.

Cold storage

Flexible systems that handle temperature swings.

Retail & showrooms

Attractive finishes that endure constant foot traffic.

Polyurethane vs epoxy: which do you need?

Epoxy is hard and rigid, which makes it excellent for general warehouses and workshops. Polyurethane is tougher in a different way: it’s more flexible and far better at handling temperature changes, so it’s usually the right choice for food and drink production, wet process areas, kitchens and anywhere with hot wash-downs.

For the most demanding food environments, heavy-duty polyurethane screed systems are laid several millimetres thick and finished with coving at the walls for a fully hygienic, easy-clean surface. We’ll recommend the right build-up after seeing your site.

Frequently asked questions

Is polyurethane flooring suitable for food production?

Yes. Polyurethane systems are widely used in food and drink facilities because they handle hot water, steam cleaning, fats and food acids, and can be installed with integral coving for hygiene.

Will it handle a cold store or freezer?

Polyurethane copes well with temperature changes. For working freezers, where installing at low temperatures is the challenge, an MMA system can be the better option, and we’ll advise which suits your site.

How long does it last?

A correctly specified and installed polyurethane floor can last many years in demanding conditions. Lifespan depends on traffic, chemicals and cleaning, and periodic maintenance helps.
